Since we last posted, it looks like we’ll have a new president. What better tine to talk about new beginnings. I’m Medicare minus 3 months. I could probably do an entire post on that process, but I won’t. Instead, coming of Medicare age brings to mind retirement. To me, they should go hand-in-hand, but that remains to be seen. There was talk of my retiring last January 1. I moved my law practice to a larger firm in August of 2019, with the intent of ultimately having them take over my practice. Change is a coming. I can feel the desire for kindness all around me and I hope that you do too. Election Day is tomorrow, my vote is in, and I just signed the Democracy Declaration, endorsing democracy as a means of giving voice to each one of us. You can join the thousands of educators who have signed it at the link above. Then my recommendation is to make some comfort food and curl up to watch democracy in action tomorrow. We loved our RV weekend to Zion and Bryce so much (see The Beauty of a Basecamp), we bought one! Let me introduce you to Toto, the newest member of our family! We took ours on its maiden voyage two weekends ago to Moab, also in southern Utah, and home to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. We have been there a few times before, including once for the Moab Folk Festival two years ago, when we rented a Teardrop trailer from Red Rock Base Camps. Highly recommended, in that they deliver the teardrop to your site, set it up, and pick it up when you’re done. No towing necessary! Wendy…

Just the thought of writing this post brings a smile to my face. This past weekend, Gail and I rented an Airstream Basecamp travel trailer (yup, an RV!) in Salt Lake and drove south to Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks. We had never towed a trailer before, but Todd, co-owner (with his wife, Amber) of the rental company, Utah Caravans, spent as much time as we needed to get us comfortable driving with the trailer attached.
