Leaving the Pavement

We loved our RV weekend to Zion and Bryce so much (see The Beauty of a Basecamp), we bought one! Let me introduce you to Toto, the newest member of our family! We took ours on its maiden voyage two weekends ago to Moab, also in southern Utah, and home to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. We have been there a few times before, including once for the Moab Folk Festival two years ago, when we rented a Teardrop trailer from Red Rock Base Camps. Highly recommended, in that they deliver the teardrop to your site, set it up, and pick it up when you’re done. No towing necessary! Wendy…

The Beauty of a Basecamp

Just the thought of writing this post brings a smile to my face. This past weekend, Gail and I rented an Airstream Basecamp travel trailer (yup, an RV!) in Salt Lake and drove south to Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks. Assault on Mt. Evans

What have I gotten myself into? Next Friday, on August 21, my friend and Ripper-In-Training, Josh, along with fellow blogger and bona fide Senior Ripper Bob, aka Old Man Gravel, will attempt to ride to the summit of Mt. Evans in Clear Creek County, Colorado. Mt. Evans is the highest paved road in North America, topping out at just over 14,200 feet. On July 9 of this year, Old Man Gravel published a post called “Hacking Mt. Evans“, where he outlined his plan to ride to the summit. This summer, because of Covid, no cars are allowed above the Welcome Station, around 15 miles from the peak. To have the…
